MORE THAN 50 YEARS OF PASSION FOR EXTRA-VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

The cooperative has been operating in Val d’Orcia for more than fifty years and it has now become the reference point for growers in the area. The oil mill with its two modern Pieralisi continuous cycle plants processes around 20,000 quintals of olives per year and sells the oil produced for its members.
The plant has seen many investments since the beginning of the 90s and was completely restructured between 2014 and 2015: today it can meet the needs of its members and modern demands of the industry perfectly.

OUR STORY

1962: THE COOPERATIVE WAS FOUNDED
In 1962 the Cooperativa Oleificio Val d’Orcia was founded to manage the oil mill set up by the then Ente Maremma. There were very few members and the oil mill was only open during the milling period: around 1500 quintals of olives were processed.
THE 80S: AN AGREEMENT WAS MADE
In 1987 after the olive groves froze in 1985 an agreement between the growers associations was made to manage a single oil mill.
THE 90S: EXPANSION
Due to its location and structure with great potential at the beginning of the 90s the Oleificio became the fulcrum of oil production in the area.
Substantial investments were made and the building was extended: the cooperative started selling the oil produced from olives supplied by the members and became very successful very quickly.
FROM 2000 TO 2013: MODERNISATION
In 2001 the company Enoteca Toscana srl was founded to manage the sales and marketing of oil and many other products like cheese, wine, preserves and pasta produced by its members. In 2008 the milling plant was replaced with a more modern and efficient one and in 2013 work started on the construction of a commercial and storage area, enhancing the processing plants and to improve the existing structure from an environmental impact point of view.
FROM 2014 TO TODAY: GROWTH
Currently the cooperative has more than 520 members from the entire Val d’Orcia area as well as Seggiano, particularly suited to olive production due to the presence of the native olive variety called “Olivastra seggianese”, which is difficult to grow yet spectacular to see.
