QUALITY AND RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
TASTY AND HEALTHY
The company produces extra virgin olive oil cultivated by its partners in the Val d’Orcia area (the municipalities of Castiglione d’Orcia, San Quirico d’Orcia, Montalcino, Pienza, Radicofani) and in part of the municipality of Seggiano where there is an indigenous cultivar, the “olivastra seggianese”. The varieties of oil cultivated are: olivastra, frantoio, correggiolo, moraiolo, leccino, pendolino, as well as others in small quantities.
The characteristics of our oil are typically Tuscan. A good fruity fragrance, slightly bitter and spicy, with a hint of fresh olive and an after-taste of thistle and artichoke. The colour is green/yellow with golden highlights. It is a prime quality oil which has profound ties with its land of origin, characterised by a very low acidic level (0.10% on pressing, to a maximum of 0.30%) and very rich in polyphenols, anti-oxidants which contribute to keeping us young.
It is very easy to digest and has a high vitamin content, so we can safely say that it is good for you.
ORGANIC AND SUSTAINABLE EXCELLENCE
AUTHENTIC, MONITORED, TRACED
All the oil collected from our partners responds to the requirements set out by regulations regarding Protected Geographical Indication (P.G.I.) production of “Toscano” olive oil approved with the Ministerial Decree issued by the Ministry for Agricultural Policies. This means that all producers comply with, and are subject to, monitoring by the Consortium for the safeguarding of Toscano P.G.I. extra virgin olive oil. The stages of production, crushing and bottling must take place within the Tuscany area.
A proportion of the oil provided by our partners complies with the requirements of the regulations for the production of Protected Designation of Origin (P.D.O.) extra virgin olive oil production “Terre di Siena” approved with the Regulation of the Ministry for Agricultural and Forestry Policies.
All producers comply with, and are subject to, monitoring by the Consortium for the safeguarding of Terre di Siena P.D.O. extra virgin olive oil.
Before bottling, both P.G.I. and P.D.O. olive oils are examined by the relative authorities for chemical and organoleptic analysis in order to check their compliance with the requirements set by the regulations.
The cooperative carries out the processing of olives both in conventional and organic single batches, in compliance with European community regulations EC 834/07 and 889/08.
The body responsible for the monitoring of organic production is ICEA, which carries out periodical checks and issues the necessary certification.
